Ever wondered how to navigate the immense world of buying in bulk? Great buys can be found at your local Costco, and other buys that really are not worth it.
One of the things that we do, that saves us tons of money, is purchasing all of our meat there. We buy ground beef and a whole pork loin. The ground beef lasts us about a month and a half. My husband cuts up the pork loin into a roast and then chops. This will last us about two months.
Trash bags. One of those things you need but hate to spend money on. But you always want good quality, which usually means more money. Not if you buy the Kirkland brand, size 13 gallon. There are 200 bags in there and last time I bought them they cost $9.99. We bought some in Aug of 2008, and again in July 2009. We have yet to open the box we bought in July. What a great buy!
Christmas is coming. If you have a lot of gifts to wrap, I highly recommend purchasing your wrapping paper at Costco. You get a lot of it for an incredible price (next time I am there I will get an exact price and amount). Its another one of those things, if stored properly that will last a long time.
Don’t have a dishwasher? Buy your dish soap at Costco. The Kirkland brand if used sparingly will last a year or more.
Before purchasing shampoo and condition at Costco I felt like I was buying it all the time. Then two years ago (yes, two years) I bought a Costco size bottle of Herbal Essences and I am just now getting to the point where I need to purchase more. The shampoo and conditioner are shared between my husband and myself.
A membership to Costco is as low as $50 a year.
